"There is no stronger power than that of love." A certain sad smile came to Melinda's lips, then it was gone. "If that's what kept him going, it's what will heal him. I'll be making sure that both you and Draco will be involved in his healing, as it should be."
Remus let out another breath and nodded again, then looked to Draco. "I think your family and Melinda can handle things from here. Do you want to stay the night or come back with me?"
Narcissa gave a nod in agreement and visibly relaxed. This was something she could agree on and felt more comfortable with. "I simply just want to do what I can to help my husband."
Part of him wanted to stick around to see how things worked between his parents and Melinda. And to offer support for Melinda if needed. Then the other half felt that they needed to get used to one another and not have to rely on them all the time. If Remus felt that Melinda could handle them now...then he supposed it was best to leave.
"I think I'll go with you. They need to get used to one another. It was good that Melinda got my father to talk about his family." Draco replied.
Remus knew the gaze in Melinda's eyes spoke volumes about how Narcissa had been clearly ready to off her not long before, but she said nothing, only gave an easy smile and nodded. "I think between us, we will be able to help him, and I will be making sure that you can work together to continue that aid even after I've gone."
With a quick nod to Draco, he thought the young man had the right idea. "I think you're right," he murmured, then raised a brow slightly. "Think you have my home well enough in mind to manage to Apparate back, or should I lead?"
"Don't worry, I'm used to that," Melinda said, giving a knowing smile to Draco. "I'll let you know about any sort of progress as it comes. Don't worry too much. And about some kind of internship... lets see how this goes, and afterward, we'll talk." Though the latter she kept quiet, between them.
Remus gave Melinda a look of gratitude before he stepped back, looking to Draco. "Ready? Remember the basement," he said simply, not about to say anything more on the matter of where they would appear before he looked to Narcissa and Lucius. "Good luck, both of you. Don't hesitate to reach out if you need either of us." His tone serious in that matter, given that anything could go wrong when one of them wasn't expecting it.
Lucius gave a nod of thanks and then held out his hand to shake Remus's. He wasn't one to thank people and that was as close as they would get.
As soon as Remus Apparated, Draco did as well--arriving safely on the basement. "Thank you, Remus...I'm sorry that you always seem to catch my mother's wrath. I didn't know that my mother would react that way."
"As you grow older, Draco, you'll learn that it is far from a surprise your mother acted that way. Melinda is a beautiful and somewhat younger woman who is going to have to get close to her husband during a trying time - jealousy and protectiveness together can be a powerful thing, but please don't ever let her know I told you that." He wouldn't dare risk her wrath again!
Remus reached over and patted the young man's shoulder. "For now, the rest of the day is yours. I think there won't be much excitement unless we get a panicked or angry call from your home from one party or the other." At least for another few days, then the moon would rise.
"You want jealousy try dealing with Pansy Parkinson. I couldn't look or talk with another girl withou her getting upset." Draco commented. And after dealing with her tantrums, she ends up leaving him.
"Is there anything you wish for me to do?" He asked. He wasn't entirely sure of what was expected of him.
Draco's response about jealousy made Remus chuckle, knowing that most people learned at a young age. He wasn't exactly about to discuss how he had learned all about that with a man so much younger, but a memory did swirl out of the depths of his memory which briefly turned his smile sad.
"No, no need. However, want to try dealing with Muggle money? I can teach you a bit about it, and tomorrow, you can try your hand at it."
Remus gave a little wave of his hand. "I can switch it out if you want at another time. Tonks has a friend nearby who's been willing to make the trip back and forth when we're a bit too busy with Teddy. Tonight, just an explanation and show you what it all looks like." He gave an easy smile before he headed up, going into the kitchen to grab a wallet tucked away, putting it down and nudging it towards Draco. "British Pounds."
Draco followed him up gave a curious glance at the wallet and the money inside it. He was glad that he wouldn't have to exchange the money himself. It would save a lot of awkward stares and avoiding Gringotts would be a plus. He picked up the various bills and studied them. This was so different then what he was used to handling.
Everything was so light and the paper felt like it could be easily torn. He preferred the gold over this. Why did Muggles have to make everything so complex.
"Aren't they different in other countries too? The Muggle money?"
"For some reason, they're different in every country. So strange." He shook his head a little bit, then shrugged. Quietly, he explained what they all were, pulling out some coin that might be more like what Draco was used to except explaining that it was all base, not truly worth anything like the gold of Galleons.
Just gently explaining something that Draco might never had known otherwise in his life.
Draco found the concept a little harder to grasp. The money felt so foreign to him. Perhaps the fact he was raised to be ignorant to Muggles and their lifestyle--it made it harder for him to understand.
Eventually, he began to grasp how much each bill was worth and how it was handled. This took a lot of concentration from him as he was doing his best to understand and not make mistakes. Only he made quite a few in the process.
Remus, for all how werewolves tended to be thought of, could be quite a patient teacher. Really, he would have been exceedingly good to remain at Hogwarts teaching DADA even if he needed a substitute every so often. He corrected mistakes gently, without trying to make Draco feel foolish, then ended up making a tiny cheat sheet that gave the conversions. He didn't think Draco would need it for long.
It was late when they wrapped up, and Remus leaned back, eyes closing. "I think you have it well enough to be trusted with a bit of Muggle money tomorrow when you go out. Just remember the woman from the soap shop - she can help you out if you get stuck or her husband. Little balding man who always looks like he could use a good meal or three - name of Roger."
"I'll try to remember all of this." Draco said as he tucked the piece of paper in pant's pocket. He then repeated the name in an attempt to remember it.
He was in fact grateful for Remus's patience. As much as he admired his godfather, Snape did not have a lot of patience for mistakes...especially if repeated. His father was the same way. Having the tiny cheat sheet was a relief and he felt a little more confident about it.
Thanking Remus, Draco then headed upstairs to settle down for the night and collect his own thoughts from today's adventures.
In the morning, always early with an infant, Draco would find Remus asleep on the couch with Teddy asleep in the crook of his arm and the television on. Someone had been up in the middle of the night to spare his wife and was still in his ridiculous pajamas and snoring quietly. In his sleep, he looked younger, carrying less of the world on his shoulders.
Upon seeing the two sleeping, Draco did his best to quietly move around the house. He had assumed that Remus would be downstairs, but was surprised to see Teddy as well. The baby must have had a rough night...Draco had been too exhausted to really notice anything. Or Remus got to him before he could disturb the whole house.
He went into the kitchen to prepare some tea. He was starting to get better at preparing breakfast. At least he wasn't burning it Some point he'll be able to surprise his mother that he learned to cook.
The sounds in the kitchen eventually woke Remus up, rubbing his eyes and shifting, realizing where he was and what he was doing and who was in his arm. He rumbled a little bit before he got up slowly, moving to tuck Teddy into the cradle downstairs before he padded into the kitchen, looking tired as he watched Draco for several moments before grunting and plopping himself into a chair. Certainly awake.
"...hn." Just another grunt before he gestured vaguely towards the stove. "It's on too high. Turn it down." He rubbed his face and pointed towards the counter. "Blue bottle. Pick Me Up Potion. In the tea. Extra sugar." His head ended up on his crossed arms.
He gave a nod and quickly turned the stove down and reached for the indicated bottle. Once he was sure the food wasn't going to burn, he made the tea the way Remus directed with the potion added.
He handed it over to Remus and went back to focus on the frying pan. He didn't bother with any conversation wanting to give Remus some time to get himself together and wake up.
It also gave him time as well. Old nightmares had been the reason why he had woken up so early. He wasn't sure what was bringing them back...possibly all the changes that were happening. It had been an overwhelming week.
Once breakfast was ready, he filled two plates and brought them to the table and joined Remus. This time he managed to not burn anything thanks for Remus's quick pointer.
The tea was already helping. It had been a gift to them when the baby had been born for exactly this reason. He gave a nod of thanks at the tea and the food, but gave a raised eyebrow. Not a breakfast of champions but acceptable. "You're improving quickly," he remarked after a few bites, digging in eagerly.
He was only interrupted by a sound, a faint thumping, before he yawned. "Paper, since we can't get an owl so easily." He got up and retrieved it from the postbox, looking amused as he put a Muggle advertisement for a pizza parlor in front of Draco. "Next thing we can introduce you to."
"I kind of regret not learning earlier...when my mother was trying to get me to cook. I usually found a way to get around it." Draco replied as he studied the flyer that Remus gave him. That explained how they got the mail and the daily paper.
"What's a pizza? Muggles certainly make weird food."

"Love was one thing that the Dark Lord never understood. It was also a weakness for Him. He didn't understand how far love can go.
He had hoped to break our family thinking that he could make as example of what not to do. But it only pulled us together more.
I believe it only made him more mad that he couldn't break us." Narcissa replied in a soft voice, a little hesitant to even mention it.

The thought of having to go to Gringotts was less then appealing. Especially to be seen with exchanging his money.
