There were people he would need to speak with about this, as if this became something more difficult or more egregious, there would be documented precedence. "I'm guessing, from what you're suggesting, that this was in front of your friend. Public?" Remus needed as many details as Draco would provide; he wouldn't simply let this slide. He knew Draco's little gang had barely slipped from the clutches of a cell after the war.

"It was just in front of me and Jake. Luckily, they didn't say or do anything that revealed our world," Draco replied. "I think they were surprised to see me out in public let alone with a Muggle."

Public location where more Muggles could have seen. However, Remus steered the conversation slightly, looking curious to Draco as they stood among the heather. "What were you prepared to do, if Crabbe had drawn his wand? What would you have chosen to do at that point? What if the other two had stepped in?"

Draco frowned slightly at the question. "At the time, I had already placed a shield over Jake as we were talking. I would have told him to run though if things looked like it would get rough....And if necessary use memory charms."

This conversation made him uncomfortable, only because of this was dealing with his friends from the past and current...and he wasn't fond of using memory charms.

The shield was a good step - and told Remus more about how Draco was changing that he had protected his friend before himself. He could hear that it was making the other uncomfortable, but it wasn't the kind of conversation that could be avoided. Not when it was dealing with something so very important.

"What experience do you have with memory charms?" he prodded further, gently, watching Draco's expression carefully here. "They are exceedingly dangerous given that they could so easily go very wrong."

"I only know basic ones....and a few Dark Art ones," Draco reluctantly admitted. "I would have relied on the basic ones. If I had to I would have relied on someone more skilled for it."

There was a slight pause before he asked the next question. "If something like this were to happen again... would it be safe to have Jake run to get you?"

"Don't." Remus was set and simple, fixing Draco with a bit of a look. "Don't attempt memory charms, honestly. Knock him out, tie him up, but don't try a memory charm. Let the people at the Ministry devoted to this sort of thing do it. You don't want to risk your friend's mind. ...Please." The last word said softer.

"If something ever happens, Jake is more than welcome to come get me, or Tonks. Any time of the day or night." He stressed that, his eyes quite serious. "I'd rather be able to come help and we'll deal with him after if necessary."

"Alright," Draco replied softly as he nodding in understanding. "If memory charms were used...would he forget me too?"

Draco could tolerate Jake forgetting the magical world...but to forget him entirely, he wasn't so sure he could handle that. He had already lost so much. He was grateful though that Remus was willing to help should they need it.

Remus' lips thinned, looking away as he thought about it. After several moments, he finally said, "it's difficult to say. Considering he's your friend, they very well might only reverse his memory to a certain time before the incident. It's.. rarely done. Usually anything related to our world, but this is a little more specific than normal."

Draco looked away and bit his lip as he tried to keep his emotions in check. Even though Remus hinted that it could be done to a certain point...He knew his own luck. With the way he was frowned upon, they probably wouldn't go out of their way for that. They would see it was protecting Jake.

"Why do they even want us to interact with Muggles, if they have to have their memories wiped the minute they learn of our world? I shouldn't have even bothered." Draco replied mad with the way the rules worked and mad at himself for getting into such a complex situation--or relationship? His voice and eyes revealed how upset he was by the news.

Damn. Remus sighed quietly and moved over, wrapping an arm around the younger man's shoulders and hugging tightly. "...because they're incredible people who can teach us much. Because we need to start to stop this isolation or we will die out." He spoke quietly, just barely heard. "But more importantly? ...I don't believe that every person needs to be wiped. Do you trust this friend?"

Gratefully, Draco accepted the hug. He was glad to have this conversation with Remus and not his parents.

"Jake is someone I trust. I trust him more then I had my group of friends. It's hard to explain, but we seem to balance each other out." Draco answered. The more he talked about Jake the more relaxed he became. A smile also grew on his face despite him trying to hide it.

A slow raise of the brow. That smile, that tone... was he imagining...? Remus hesitated, the decided to go a different sort of route to trying to confirm. "If you trust him, Draco, then I think it'd be best if we meet him. ...We won't judge, you know. I have friends among Muggles." A small smile, trying to encourage.

"I would like that," Draco replied. He was in a sense relieved that Remus suggested it before he had. He was still excited by the idea knowing that they would be more accepting of Jake then his parents ever will be. He didn't catch the fact that Remus seemed to note the possible feelings he held for Jake. "That was going to be my next question about inviting him over."

Remus wasn't sure if he was right about that or not, though. He seemed to remember mention Draco having a girlfriend in school, and he could imagine the Malfoys would not handle Draco dating men well, so he wouldn't assume until told. Maybe Draco himself didn't know.

"Why don't you bring him over tomorrow night, then? I can get a proper dinner together for us all to meet." Remus gave another quick squeeze before he stepped back. "For tonight, training. Let's make sure you can protect yourself and your friend, mmm?"

The Malfoys would not take to Draco dating men...let alone a Muggle. Only, Draco knew the risks of the relationship and was willing to chance it. For now he was trying to introduce Jake to everyone as his friend before he indicated that he was more then just a friend. Pansy had been someone he had loved, but she also someone his parents had approved of. Only it turned out she had been merely dating him because of his namesake.

"Okay! I'll let me know," Draco replied and at the mention of training, he pulled out his wand.

Remus tugged his wand out as well, then concentrated for a moment before breathing out a single murmured word and gesturing. After several moments of effort, a hazy figure started to appear before him, and Remus gave a rapid twist and snap to the side of his wand. When he did, the haze burst apart like orange glitter and there stood, of all things, a man. He had no expression, no movements, didn't even seem to be breathing but otherwise real.

A breath out and Remus looked pleased. "American spell," he offered helpfully. "Used to create a trick person to divert attention. It's untouchable though and you have to puppet it, but it looks quite real if you put effort into it. It'll work nicely for our Muggle you need to protect tonight."

Draco couldn't help but look surprised at this new spell. He had never seen or heard of it. It made him more curious about the Americans. He was rather impressed with it.

"So I'm supposed to protect that puppet and not attack it?" Draco questioned wanting a clarification.

"Exactly." Remus moved back, tucking his wand away. "So for tonight, this moor is a public street. Muggle eyes could be anywhere. I'll be coming after you and your puppet friend as if I'd decided to break the Code and attack in public. Understood?"

"Understood." Draco nodded and began to try to mentally prepare a list of spells to use in protection. He knew some where he didn't have to rely on his wand, but they were few and not as strong. They were more for emergencies if anything. He could use a spell to hide his wand so it wasn't noticeable.

Reluctantly, Draco tucked his wand away. As he did so he quickly put a basic shield charm around the puppet. And using what he learned from last training he planned to build on that shield.

Remus nodded and suddenly moved, drawing his wand and looking darker. "The first move you make here is the most important. What is the easiest thing you can do to stop this fight before it goes any further than drawn wands?"

When Draco would go to speak, Remus would snap off, "Silenco!" To catch his student off guard and in fact, silence him.

....Well there went using that spell, he had planned to use that next. He was going to have to remember to use that first. He had been too worried about trying to get a protective spell going on the puppet first. He frowned more at himself then anything.

With a flourish of a his wand he used a spell to hold Remus in his place. He would try to work with it now. See how far he could go with out being able to speak. It was a good thing his father had taught him a variety. His father was pretty well schooled in nonverbal spells.

Good, so Draco could manage some stronger wordless spells. Remus could break the spell Draco had cast, but he wanted to see where the other went with it, more of what the younger wizard could do. His eyes narrowed and he dropped another bang - quite literally. A flash of light flared up as bright as could be right between them - anyone looking would have been at least temporarily blinded.

Instinctively he had thrown his arms up not in front himself but in front of the puppet. In the past he would have only thought to protect himself. The noise and the bright light caused Draco to panic momentarily. It took him even longer to regain his eyesight.

While he waited for his eyesight to return he tried to disarm Remus and found it more difficult to use with out being able to speak it.

Remus forcibly broke the spell holding him in place and just as Draco came out of his blindness, he would hear the /crack!/ of someone Apparating and there was Remus, holding his wand to the puppet's throat. He dropped the jinx from Draco as well, holding up his free hand to stop any further actions.

"Not bad," he said simply. "We just need to work out a few kinks in your thinking."
