"They won't mind. Like I said they would be more amused that I'm trying camping at all." Draco replied in an amused tone. "You know spoiled rich kid out in the middle of no where dealing with nothing but the wilderness.
As for drinking... I tend to drink more wine then anything, but I wouldn't say no to what Ed chooses to bring."
He was used to wine from the dinners with his parents. He had various liquor with his friends, but it was also all wizard drinks which were different. He wondered how different they were.
"Spoiled rich kid who's proven himself resourceful but-- wait who am I kidding, he's going to get eaten by a bear." It was pure joke, his grin unable to hide his faux-serious tone.
Wine. Sometimes Draco really did live up to the rich kid stereotype! "No wine, sorry." A more gentle tease. "Usually beer. Just something fun. We're not the types to get pissed, but maybe just a little." They were legal so who cared if they got a bit pissed out in the middle of no where? Not like they would get yelled at for being drunk.
That earned a chuckle even if it was at his expense. His only experience with being out in the woods was following their Game Keeper out in the Dark Forest due to a detention he had earned. That had been a crazy night that he did his best to forget.
"Alright, I think I can deal with just beer," Draco replied in a teasing tone. He wasn't sure if he was going to loose control of himself or not. He wasn't sure what he would say and might make a mistake of saying stuff he shouldn't. Not to mention it was more fun watching everyone around him get trashed and being the only one to remember what happened the night before.
"Good because I don't want to have to hold the rich kid's hair back while he loses his dinner." Jake stepped to nudge their shoulders together before he laughed. "I won't let you get that bad. Besides we usually just do the usual. Tell stupid stories, maybe play truth or dare. That usually ends with even better stories to tell."
"I'll hold you to that," Draco replied not that he ever really lost control like that. He did once and that was shortly after Pansy had left him because of how disgraceful his family had become. And how he had rapidly lost everyone he knew. "Always fun. My friends and I used to do that a lot. There were some interesting stores."
"Lucy can be a real perv so be careful, and Ed might not look it but he's shrewd." Spoken with clear affection for his friends. Then suddenly he turned off the street and towards a building.
"I'll warn you- I didn't decorate." He laughed as he held open the door to the foyer. Not the best or worst of an apartment building really. Though the elevator was totally ignored for just going up a flight to the second floor, then he unlocked a door down the hall. "Home sweet home."
Clearly more of a female touch to the place, but it was clean and had some of Jake's touch as well. His stuff was a bit all over the joint, and there were dishes in the sink. Not exactly clean but not a pigsty. "Uh, cleaning or lack there of is my fault though."
Draco raised an eyebrow a little surprised by the comments about Jake's friends. He had a lot to learn. "Probably nothing I've heard before. My group could get a crude when left alone." He then followed Jake up the one flight of stairs.
"Nice place you have. Don't worry about it my room's usually a distaster." Draco comented as he curiously looked around the flat. It was very different from the place Ed lived at. He noted all the various touches and did note how bland the place was. "Where's Lucky?"
Crude. The term made him laugh. He went to answer about Lucky when the barking from nearby would give a clue. So he walked around a corner and there, behind a tall baby gate, was Lucky, wriggling and looking so happy to see his master. Jake flipped open the gate and Lucky wriggled more with a wagging tail, licked Jake's hand, before coming around the corner and spotting Draco. A momentary pause, then he came over and sat there, all wriggling puppy like, looking up at Draco.
"He's got a bit of a chewing problem, so yeah, he has to stay in the kitchen during work." It had a big dog bed, bowls, toys, and the like.
Draco simply shook his head at Jake's reaction. He would have gotten in trouble if his parents found out or heard half of the conversations he had with his group. It wasn't the image they wanted their son to have. They were teenagers it was expected.
He called Lucky over to pet him, wishing he had some kind of treat on him to give the dog. In the past he always had a treat on his person for their dogs. He'll have to make note to start doing that again.
"Better be safe then sorry," he replied. He remembered the stories his father used to share when it came to training their dogs. It had been quite a task. "My father went through several pairs of shoes before he was able to get the dogs trained. That was just the shoes...there was quite an assortment of other things they often got a hold of."
Lucky was oh so happy to get petted, tail thumping against Draco's legs as he leaned into him, then ran back over to his master and did the same thing. Happy, easy going sort of dog that was just happy people were home.
"Ouch. Probably seriously expensive shoes and assortments, too." Jake could just imagine a puppy with an italian loafer in his mouth, chewed, and the thought made him chuckle. "Here, let me get changed and Lucky's definitely going to need to go on a walk. Feel free to look around." A flash of that grin before he disappeared down a hall.
The place had the feel of someone just visiting, not really moved in. A guest. Jake really didn't have a place of his own, as he'd admitted, but he was pretty much supporting himself other than rent. How much could his job possibly pay as it was? Normal sort of teenage life, in the end.
"Pretty much," Draco replied. Although they were more then likely dragon hide shoes. That grin always managed to get a smile from Draco.
He took the time and studied the flat and easily notice the feel to it. It was sort of how he was at the Lupins. Most of his own contents still stayed in the trunk or in the dresser. Where his own room showed more of his personality. Although, that changed from the Mannor to the summer home. Everything was very childlike at his home verses a more plainer appearance at the summer home.
It didn't take Jake long to come out, hair brushed, a light scent of cologne, neat shirt and jeans, tight as always. He winked as he passed by Draco as if saying /oh I know I look good/ before he laughed, grabbing Lucky's harness.
Which of course got Lucky excited as anything while Jake tried to get it on him. "Hold on or you can't go out! Stop wiggling!" Bark! Eventually the fight was won and Lucky strained to go outside.
"Show off," Draco teased. He found that he did agree.
He was amused with the daily ritual that seemed to be of getting the harness on. Upon request, he went and got the door and followed Jake and Lucky back out of the flat.
Lucky was clearly a happy pup to get outside, tail going a mile a minute and trying to sniff everything. Jake ignored him for the most part, just following him, and looked to Draco. "Things still good with your relatives? ...Any luck with your parents and what you want to do with college?"
"I just recently talked with my mother about going to America for college. She was thinking of going over there to visit the college to see what it's like before we make a final decision. None of us have ever been to America...and it's a pretty big move of I do go through with it." Draco replied. He had gave a nod that things were still good.
"I'll admit I'm a little hesitant about this. I've never been away from my family for that long or in a foreign place before."
"It'll be a great adventure though," Jake pointed out with some excitement in his voice. "You'll be whoever you want there. No family to make you into what you want, none of this craziness here to follow you. You'll be you're own person."
Lucky picked up on his master's excitement and barked. "See, even he agrees!"
"I mean..." Jake hesitated, then gave a smile again, "it's entirely up to you. Besides, I get to hang out with you until you decide. Can't complain." But the smile faded a moment later, watching his dog with an odd expression.
"You're part of the reason why I'm also hesitant on going there." Draco softly admitted feeling his cheeks blush as he looked down at his own feet. It would have been easier if he hadn't befriended Jake let alone finding he was starting to have feelings for the other.
Jake froze, then blinked before he blushed as well, looking down. Oh. That meant a lot, a whole lot. So when he spoke, it was soft. "...I don't want you to hesitate because of me, Dragon. This is your whole life ahead of you. You don't stay because of me." He reached over, brushing Draco's hand. "You understand me? You're going to do incredible stuff, I just know it. I'm just some kid in a town in England."
"You're so quick to say I'm going to do great things...but you're just as important to. You've given me many reasons to stay on this path instead of just giving up. I know you'll find your place too," Draco replied in the same soft voice and held Jake's hand.
Jake's small smirk showed he wasn't so sure he believed Draco's words about himself, but there wasn't much he could say. He squeezed that hand tightly. "Then I did something good, hmm?" He looked to Draco, then glanced around. No one around.
Oh, that got Draco to blush more, but he didn't stop Jake. He noted that Jake was getting more bold now not that he minded. But this also meant he was going to have some how discuss this with his family let alone the Lupins. He knew the Lupins would be easier...but his family would be difficult.
"I never told anyone..." he admitted hearing his own heart pounding. "But I don't need this to be a secret too when there's so much I can't say already..."
Jake pulled back and gave an easy shrug, but he was almost proud of getting the other to blush. "You tell who you want, just let me know when we meet them. I can play straight easy. Had to lie to my folks for all those years after all."
He gave a grateful nod in response. "Thank you," he replied in a soft tone. He realized he had so much to think on. When did things get so complex? He did feel better with himself by finally admitting it out loud.
