Draco frowned, unsure of how he would handle such a situation. He was so used to having various connections that his father had formed. All he had to do was mention his name and he would get what was needed. Only, now such connections were gone.
"How did you eventually find your way back?...With no magic?" He asked, curious. He knew that Remus was okay with dealing with Muggles and believed that part wasn't the exact challenge. But knowing no one and not having a wand...that was the challenge.
"...I spent nearly a year there. It didn't make too much of a difference, in a way. Muggle money, wizarding money, as long as I could live right? I ended up taking on odd jobs that kept me off the map, but the locals started to trust me. ...In fact, that's where Dumbledore found me."
Draco gave a quiet "Oh..." and could feel his face flush slightly, before looking away. He knew that Professor Dumbledore meant a lot to Remus. He tried his best to hide his own anxiety of the man when his name was brought up.
"That's how you got your job at Hogwarts?" He had been a little surprised to learn this. He didn't know that Dumbledore had went out of his way to look for Remus...and assumed that it was an easier transition then what it actually was.
"It is. Came out of no where. Never was a teacher, never imagined being one either. He convinced me it would be okay and... it might have been." He chuckled, but it was a sad one.
"Considering who we've had as a teacher for the DADA class you were probably one more suited for the job." Draco admitted. No he wasn't trying to flatter Remus, he was actually being honest. Granted when Draco had Remus as a teacher, he didn't show much enthusiasm.
After dealing with all the following teachers (aside from Snape) Remus was a lot more interesting and knew what he was talking about.
He would never forgive Mad Eye Moody for turning him into a ferret...even if that had been an imposer. He didn't quite count as a teacher in his eye. He would take pink hair over being a ferret any day.
Silence followed as he concentrated on his plate of food and tea before it got too cold.
"Well, thank you," Remus said with a touch of bashfulness, giving a wry smile with it. He didn't do all that easily with compliments. Didn't help with Tonks, either. If he had known the thoughts on Mad-Eyed, he would have told Draco that Moody was a better men than most expected but even the real one would have done the same thing to Draco. It was just who he was.
He got through the rest of his plate when he thought he heard a creak from upstairs and gave a quite chuckle. "I think the dead have risen," he pointed up.
Impostor or not...being turned into a ferret was not something Draco appreciated. Not to mention, he was rather terrified of Mad-Eyed.
Tonks gave a groggy greeting as she went over to the coffee pot. She had been grateful that Remus took care of Teddy for her during the night, valuing as much sleep she could get.
She still wasn't used to seeing Draco up so early, expecting him to have been a late sleeper too. Apparently...not. She did raise an eyebrow at the attempted breakfast.
Tonks only joined them once she had her coffee in hand and it wasn't until the cut was halfway empty was she willing to hold conversation.
This was not a household full of people who woke up easily. Remus appreciated Tonks' desire to sleep in most of the time, but given his terrible sleeping to begin with, it didn't bother him as much to wake up and get Teddy in the middle of the night. He yawned though and let Tonks just wake up as she would.
"Do you have anything in particular today, or would you rather a free day to yourself, Draco?" Remus questioned, brow lifting a little.
"A free day?" Draco thought about it for it a bit. He had been so used to his time being spent on taking care of his parents and being cooped up inside... that the thought of a free day sounded great. He didn't get a chance to really explore the area yet, and he would like to do that.
"Did you need me to do anything first?" He asked before agreeing to the free day.
"No?" But he did glance to his wife, making sure she didn't have anything, but she only grunted and he took that as a no, which made him chuckle before he shook his head. "Looks like the day's all yours, if you want. Go out and enjoy yourself, though be back for tea, if you can."
He was fairly certain that while Draco was old enough to be handling things himself, Narcissa wouldn't be happy if he didn't have Draco checking back in on things.
Draco gave a nod. After finishing his tea, he then hurried off to go grab a shower. About an hour or so later, he was heading out the door dressed in the clothes Tonks had picked up. He did make sure to have the tiny cheat sheet, Remus had made for him. Needless to say, he was quite excited to be spending the day out.
He took his time heading down to all the shops, still wanting to make sure he got an idea of where he was. He kept an eye out for Jake, but wasn't exactly expecting to meet him. He was content with exploring on his own.
Draco, however, would be in luck. Not immediately, but somewhere around noon, he would hear a somewhat familiar voice. "So Jessica ran by and said that a bunch of Yanks had moved in, and they were trying to figure out how the post worked but the addresses are written different across the pond--"
That would be Jake, tucked up with a bunch of other kids about his age. They all looked a bit like him in dress (Hipstery, really), grinning. A girl on her phone leaning against a bigger guy and another boy who was staring up at the sky.
Draco was a little hesitant approaching them. He was expecting Jake to be with his friends. He didnt even have an excuse for the night before. Maybe he would go by unnoticed.
He hated feeling awkward. He was a bit curious about the conversation finding it peculair.
"Be right back!" Jake climbed to his feet and looked around, but since Draco had ducked into a store, he didn't see him. "Draco?" He called out, frowning. Damn, missed him or it wasn't him.
"Hey there." Casual and easy, giving a warm smile towards Draco. His friends of course we're eyeing Draco curiously. "Glad you're still around. Bummed you couldn't make it to the party."
"Yeah...sorry about that. The meeting I had to attend took a lot longer then I was expecting and then we had company arriving the following day to prepare for. I know it sounds lame. I would have preferred the party." Draco replied with a sheepish grin.
He stuffed his hands in his jacket pockets in order to hide how nervous he was. If this had been among his peers it wouldn't be a problem...but with a group of Muggles it was a huge deal. His clothing style at least matched the other kids, thanks to Tonks. They still showed he was pretty well off. The meeting may also point in that direction as well.
"Meeting, huh?" Jake laughed a little, then gestured with his head. "Man, for hippies, your parents seem strict." Said in a pure teasing tone, then he started over to his friends. "Come meet the gang. If you're going to be around for any length of time, they'll be around, too."
He walked up to them, and provided Draco followed, gave introductions. Will and Lucy were the couple tucked up together, and Ed was the odd man out.
"Who said the meeting dealt with my parents?" Draco replied with an amused smile. He then proceeded to introduce himself to the rest of the group, offering friendly handshake. He then explained he was staying with some friends of the family for a while.
This seemed to be a typical set of friends and Draco had a feeling that Jake was the leader of their group. Ed appeared to be someone who followed them and did what was requested. Will and Lucy appeared to be the popular couple that was everywhere and rarely apart from each other. And then...Draco could be wrong, but he had seen this set up often in school.
Jake laughed at the remark about the parents, folding himself down along side of Ed. He gave a little motion of his head to indicate Draco could come sit by him. Draco wasn't far off in his assessment of the group, really. They all seemed pretty much as easy going as him, though the girl barely looked up from her phone other than a quick smile and hello.
"This was the guy I was telling you about," Jake said to his friends, grinning.
"Jake was happy there was someone new in town who didn't know how much of an arse he was," Ed chirped up, and was immediately shoved over by a laughing Jake.
Draco went and sat down next to Jake. He raised an eyebrow at Ed's comment. "Spilling secerets already?" He teased but kept it in mind to not trust Ed with important info.
From the look of it though, it was only teasing from Ed, because Jake looked amused by it as he propped an arm up on his knee, looking towards Draco with a laugh. "Good, because in this group, you tend to have to be able to give and take."
"Considering Jake's one of the worst...?" The girl chirped up before Jake grinned.
"Only second to you." But he looked back to Draco, curious. "Going to have to run today, or can you hang out?"
"Yeah, I can hang out," Draco responsed. He wasn't too concerned on making it in time for tea. Remus didn't seem to stress it. He would see what was going on before debating if it was worth the effort.
It was nice to simply joke around and not have to worry about an image.
"So, tell us about yourself?" Will asked, studying Draco before putting an arm around his girlfriend. The complex of a guy around another good looking man, but he didn't seem aggressive about it. "Going to University?"
"Have a job?" Lucy questioned in turn, peering up from her phone, curious.
"What do you like to do?" Ed asked at nearly the same time, leaning back on his arms again with a tilted head.
That was a lot of questions to think about and answer. He hadn't really expected for anyone to really show interest. This forced him to try to quickly come up with some decent answers that he could follow with.
He was however amused at Will being more territorial around his girlfriend. Draco knew the feeling well although it was more Pansy being territorial verses him being territorial. Was he now a threat to the happy couple? Will didn't have much to worry about. With Lucy being a Muggle there was no way he was going to date her...even though she was pretty.
"I'm actually planning on going into the medical field. I've been looking at various schools, but haven't decided yet." Draco replied. "As for no jobs...none yet no real need to."
As for what he liked to do...that was a tough one. "I used to play the piano a lot. But it's been a while since I played." He had only learned because his father used to play it a lot and it got a chance to spend time with him. He stopped when his father stopped. Pansy was the only one who knew about this.

"Yeah- how'd you know?"
"Be right back!" Jake climbed to his feet and looked around, but since Draco had ducked into a store, he didn't see him. "Draco?" He called out, frowning. Damn, missed him or it wasn't him.

"Jake?" He called out. He really had not expected the kid to go after him. That reason alone forced him to make an appearance.
His grey eyes gave a casual glance at his group of friends.
