"I trust you in that," he said warmly, looking around and trying to spot where he wanted. When he saw a sign for it, he smiled and pointed. "Over there."

He led the way over to the fantasy section, looking a little bit embarrassed. "So, yeah. This is what I like to read like a proper nerd. No telling."

He merely grinned still finding it highly amusing. "Doesn't mean I can continue to tease you for it," he replied. Idly he glanced at the various authors and titles of books. He wasn't really sure where to start. He was actually surprised to see how big this section was.

"I plan on finding dirt on you and teasing you in turn. Or just hand you a phone and tell you good luck." Teasing right in turn, taking his own teasing well.

He thinks about it, then raises a brow. "Knights? Monsters? Vampires? Demons? Magic? Give me something that's an interest and I'll find someone good."

"Well, I see how you fight. I'll remember this." Draco replied still a teasing tone.

"I'm already interested in magic. Demons sound interesting."

Draco's remark made him chuckle, looking amused as anything about it. He looked over the books, then pulled out a few and offered them over. "Thought you didn't read fantasy? How you into magic?" He glanced over, a brow up.

"I may not have read fantasy, but it doesn't mean that magic doesn't interest me. Not to mention you seemed to have brought up magic a lot when you mentioned fantasy," Draco pointed out.

"They're pretty connected. It's a staple of fantasy, the whole magic thing. What has your interest in it, then?" Trying to think where it would come up. ...Maybe it was a religious thing? Wiccan or something like tat? It would make a lot of sense, with the whole lack of technology...

"You really should work for the paper with all the questions you manage to dig out," Draco replied. He wasn't trying to change the subject. It was a mere observation. "What's wrong with being curious about it?"

Jake frowned a little with that, brows knitting slightly. "I didn't say anything was wrong with it. I was just surprised because it didn't exactly seem like something you'd be into, that's all." The frown remained when Jake looked back to the books, not so sure how that what he thought was an innocent question had gone wrong.

Draco frowned a bit as he tried to figure out what to say. He wasn't kidding when he felt he was being sufficated with how little he could say and do. Lying was easier with people you didn't care about or trusted. This was different.

"I may not have read anything, but I'll admit that magic had always held my interest. I always had to focus on what my parents wanted and not what held my interest. You're making me want to look into it again." Magic was his life. He hated lying about this.

"That's why I'm glad you're getting away from them, at least for a while," Jake admitted, sounding satisfied with that answer. "You can't always do or be everything your parents want, trust me on that." His lips pulled into a faint smile, but it was more ironic than anything else.

"Glad I'm getting you interested, though." He reached out and snagged a book, offering it over. "One of my favorites."

He gave a small smile, relieved to see that Jake was okay with the answer. He took the book and read the back of it trying to get an idea of what it was like.

"One of your favorites? How would you rate on the scale of 1-10?" He teased. He had a feeling that Jake had a lot of favorite books. "And what makes it stand out?"

"Mmm... a nine, I guess?" His smile turned sheepish, indicating Draco was most likely right on his guess about having a lot of favorites. So he spoke a little about it, giving an overview of the plot - magic, a demon summoned by a cult, a young man who learns about magic and tries to save his village and then the kingdom.

"It's a whole series, see?" He draws his finger along a group of several spines. "If you like it, you can read more about it."

Draco grinned, amused by Jake's reaction. In some ways he was easy to read and then there was a whole side to Jake he was trying to figure out. The story Jake explained sounded all to familiar, yet he held on to it wanting ti give a it a chance. "So, what would you say is a ten?" He asked trying to narrow down all the favorites.

It was a bit like unleashing the floodgates. Jake went through the section and spoke about the ones he truly loved the most, and while he tried to maintain that easy going, almost hipster-y like attitude he had, it showed that he really had an affinity for certain books, specifically those that really focused on magic. His top three, as he ended up deciding on, all matched that category.

He did, however, glance up on occasion with that clear uncertainty, the kind that wondered if Draco was pulling his leg or just humoring him about this whole thing.

He held on to the books that Jake had suggested. Figuring it was a good way to get to know him some more. It really surprised him with how much magic fascinated Jake. He couldn't help wonder if the magic unintentionally had pulled Jake to him. He showed no expression but interest. Any self doubt he was learning to try and hide as he knew how fast Jake was to pick up on it.

"You said that your grandmother was the one to introduce you to fantasy and magic. Was she considered different from the rest of your family?" Draco casually questioned.

"It's... complicated, really," Jake said cautiously, looking down at the book in his hand, less to read it but clearly this would be a hint awkward. "The whole situation with my family, I mean. I probably should start out with the fact I'm adopted. My grandmother isn't really my grandmother, not by blood, and isn't my parents' mother. I call her my grandmother because she's like family, you know? She's just always been there in my life. But, yeah, she's different than the rest. I think my parents always just sort of put up with her because she's old and senile, according to them."

"She sounds like an interesting person to meet." Draco replied in a sincere tone. He placed a hand on Jake's shoulder and shook his head in understanding. He didn't mean to reach into something that was complicated. That little bit of information told him enough though. He really began to wonder if the grandmother was a lot more then what his parents were trying to say. At least, Jake had someone supportive in his life.

"I think I got enough books to start off with. I'm not a fast reader so these will probably hold me a while," Draco admitted changing the topic back to the books.

Jake turned his head and gave an honest smile, appreciative of the simple touch. "She's pretty amazing. She and my sister are the people in my family I'm still close to, so maybe someday you'll get to meet them both." Simple as that, even if it was far from simple.

"You'll like this group, and since all but this one here are series, you'll have more to read if you like them." Jake clearly hid a lot down, always preferring to keep it tucked away and have the happier side of him the one shown to the world.

"Let's go pay for these."

He gave a nod, glad to see Jake kept in touch with her and his sister still. He knew there was more to it, but kept quiet on the subject. He figured over time they would learn more about each other.

Having made a few purchases since moving in with the Lupins, Draco learned how to handle the Muggle money. He was still careful on it wanting to make sure it was correct.

Jake wondered if maybe Draco was used to credit cards? He didn't comment as Draco bought his items, but knew with a bit of sadness that their night was coming to an end. Still, he didn't quite feel ready for it. So as they left, he took a bit of a plunge and asked, "...mind if I walk you home?" he asked calmly, as if it was no big deal, but it was inside.

Draco found himself caught off guard again by Jake's question. He felt his cheeks blush a bit, yet he nodded and gave a small smile. He couldn't help but feel naive around Jake as embarrassing as it was for him. He blamed it on the kiss they had shared earlier. His own emotions were in a turmoil, but he quietly walked alongside Jake leading him back to where he lived with the Lupins.

They both had that inner turmoil going on, both for different and similar reasons, as they walked back towards the Lupins in silence. That kiss lingered highly in Jake's mind and he really wouldn't mind doing that again, and it sealed a little of what made him agree to keep going as well as which way Draco ran. Even if it was jut with him? He didn't care - that was what mattered to him.

When they got to the front door, there would be nothing that Jake could feel as a Muggle, but Draco would possibly feel the faintest edge of magic from the protective charms since it was night and the full moon was up. To even be able to feel them at all meant the charms on the house were incredibly powerful, meant to keep the werewolf howling in the basement silent.

"So, this is your place?" Jake asked quietly, looking over the Lupin house. Simple, just like the rest of the houses on the street.

He was disappointed by how fast the walk was back to his house. As soon as they arrived, Draco could feel the magic surrounding the house. It made him realize how much effort the Lupins went through to keep everyone inside and outside the house safe during the full moon.

"Yeah, this is where I'm staying." Draco softly replied. He wasn't sure what to exactly say at this point. He didn't want the night to end, but knew it had to. It was late and he knew that his folks were expecting him back for the night. "--Will I get to see you any time this week before the camping trip?"

Jake's smile was the one Draco was most familiar with - easy-going, warm, eager. "That entirely depends on you, Dragon," he said with a certain pleasure in his voice at the fact Draco would want to meet before the camping trip. "I'm working a bunch this week, but we can figure out a time we can meet-- though it would be easier if you had a phone." Such a gentle sort of tease. "Maybe I could convince you to use one of those throw-away cheap phones? No glueing yourself to something that can only call and text."
