"Well considering I'm freeloading myself right now...I can't really complain," Draco replied with a sheepish grin. "To be honest if things hadn't gone the way they had, I probably would have never thought about school. I never really had to."

Even though he was being honest, Draco realized how spoiled he must seem to Jake. Not having to work or worry about school...where Jake had to work and live on his own.

"So what did you want to do with your life?" Jake asked honestly, stepping forward quickly so he could walk backwards, meeting Draco's eyes with raised brows. "And since that sounds like it changed, what do you want to do now? You've got your chance to break away, right? So what do you plan to do with it?"

"I had wanted to spend some time traveling and see the world." Draco replied as he matched Jake's gaze.

"Now I'm wanting to go into the medical field. I was hoping that it would help clear my familys name by going that route." He hesitated a bit before continuing. It was clear that despite all the bad things his family had done, he loved his parents and wasn't about to give up on them. "I want to help my father get better. The people he supported had done a lot to him as punishments for his mistakes. A doctor from America is helping him. She inspired me."

It sounded a whole lot like the mafia, the way Draco was describing it, but it equally sounded like Draco's father had a mental break down. "I'm glad someone's helping him out," Jake said honestly, even if he didn't know the man. No one deserved that kind of damage. Even if his parents had kicked him out, he still loved them.

"If you go into the medical field, someday you'll have enough money to travel the world." He grinned, a laugh before he nudged Draco with his elbow. "Just take me with you when you go."

Draco gave a laugh and nudged him back with his elbow. He wasn't used to the physical contact, but he didn't shy away from it. His friends never joked around like this. If anything it was always at someone else's expense. "It's diffently something to think about."

There was some silence before Draco spoke again. It was a comfortable silence not awakward. "So tell me more about yourself. You into any sports or hobbies?"

Not that Draco, as a child, hadn't been the one usually leading the way on who he and his friends were torturing at the time. Still, things had changed for the better in that department.

"Manchester United, all the way!" Jake's eyes lit up when he said that, grinning. "Love a good game of football. I played for years on the school team. Not good enough to go pro or anything like that, but me and my mates still play sometimes. Otherwise, like listening to music, that sort of thing. Like a lot of books, but my mates tend to laugh about it." He shrugged, showing it didn't bother him.

"How about you?"

Football was a sport that had intrigued Draco. He had been too cautious to investigate it because it was a muggle sport. "Sports have never been my expertise, but football held my interest. Maybe you can explain it to me some point."

Reading never interested him. The only books he had recently read at all were on Quidditch. "What do you read?"

"You should come over and watch a game. Easier to explain while a game's going. They're fun to watch but easy enough to ignore if you don't fancy it." The invitation came easy, not concerned about Draco's possible family enemies. Really he didn't think it would have him involved in any way.

"Promise not to laugh?" He laughed a little himself, though. "Fantasy. Always been a big fan. My grandmother got me into it as a kid and never stopped. My sister says that's why I'm like how I am."

"Alright, we can plan for that." Draco replied at the invitation. It seemed like something fun to do and it seemed to be something Jake was really into.

Fantasy? Well that explained why Jake believed in magic and other worlds. He grinned but didn't say anything. He grinned more at the fact that Jake had no clue Draco was a wizard and how very real magic, dragons, and other fantastical creatures were out there.

"You're laughing!" Jake accused but his laugh after said he was playing. "I can practically hear it in your head." He gave the 'I'm watching you' hand gesture before another laugh came. "And here's where we're going!"

He walked ahead to snag the door, holding it open for Draco. Small Italian place, nothing too fancy but nice. Date nice.

Draco only grinned more and stepped into the resteraunt. The holding door gesture caught him off guard as he was used to doing that. The place itself was nice. It wasn't his standards, but he was fine with it. He felt a little awakard being in public again and hoped no one recignized him. He kept his gaze low and quietly followed Jake letting him lead. He only hoped that Jake understood his awkardness was more to being in public and not because he was with Jake.

Man, that bad? It worried him a little bit, but figured they seemed pretty far from wherever Draco had come from, so he thought it might be a little over board. Still, he wouldn't push it. He sat down with his back to the door, hoping it might help Draco if he could see who was coming in.

Once they had menus, Jake leaned forward. "So how about you? Hobbies? Sports? What are you a fan of?"

Draco found himself relaxing a little as Jake continued their conversation. It helped distract him. The last few times he was out in public had been with Remus. He felt safe with Remus around. Remus did try to point to Draco other witches and wizards that were in the area who were friendly, but it still put him on edge a bit.

There wasn't a whole lot that Draco was into. His life never allowed him to get into various hobbies or follow sports, bands, etc. He realized how different his life style must be compared to Jake and his group. The few things he were into he couldn't mention because they were part of his world.

"You'll probably laugh but- I like origami. I like folding paper into various animals and objects." Draco admitted somewhat embarrassed by it. It was always something he used to do when he was bored and by himself. And sometimes a way he used to deliver messages. "I'm afraid to say I'm a rather dull person."

"I won't laugh- if you show me how to make one of those little throwing stars." Jake teased gently, still smiling. At least wizards were unlikely to come in here. "You've been under your parents thumb all this time, right? It sounds like you need to try some things and find out what you like." Didn't seem to bother him all that much.

"How 'bout this? We're going up to the mountains next weekend. Camping. Hiking. That sort of thing. Come with us!"

Draco smirked in response and gave a nod agreeing the to the statement. This was part of why he came out here was to find out more about himself. He didn't have to worry about pleasing his parents and learn to find things that he would enjoy.

"Next weekend? I'll have to write that down as a reminder...but that sounds like fun." Draco replied. As long as the place wasn't anything like the Dark Forest back at Hogwarts he was good to go.

"You'll end up crammed in with us... we've got a pair of tents, but we don't mind too much squeezing in a third, long as you're okay with getting close with two other blokes." He laughed, dropping back into his chair from his leaning forward. "Campfire, roughing it, the whole nine yards. We know this great spot, been going there for the last two years. Not that we're any kind of professionals, but we make do. Meet me at my place - I'll give you the address - Friday, six? That's enough time for everyone to get out of work and meet up so we can go."

Being cramped in a small tent was a bit much, but Draco figured he could get used to it. He just hoped that the two love birds didn't put on a constant show. He didn't need a repeat of Weasley and Brown.

"Considering I know nothing about camping..." Draco replied with a laugh. A weekend away from everything was starting to sound really good.

Why do you think they have their own tent, Draco?

"We started out with pretty much nothing. Our first trip was a disaster. We thought we knew how to start a fire - we didn't. Couldn't get a youtube video up on how to do it. Then it started raining on top of it, and it was miserable... but somehow, a lot of fun. That's why we started going back." He put his hand over his heart with a grin. "Promise we really do know how to start a fire now."

It took him a few seconds to figure out what he meant by youtube video, but he was able to get the jest....."And this is why I'm not glued to a cellphone." Draco shook his head. "You guys rely on them too much."

Still he had to applaud them for not giving up and still managed to have fun. Muggles were so determined. "I'll bring a book just in case...."

"Hey that's not fair! We tried to get a fire going on our own first! We were only using it as back up!" But he couldn't help but laugh at Draco's knock on the modern age. "I bet you couldn't even figure out how to call me though if you had a cell phone, so no busting our sacks, Dragon." He was grinning brightly, leaning back in his chair and clearly amused by the whole situation.

"Books are good. My favorite part is laying back and looking up at the stars... that and marshmallows."

Draco raised an eyebrow at the nickname. That was a new one. Granted, he knew why he was called it.

"Alright, you got me on that one," he smirked when Jake called on him on his rebuke. "It really wouldn't surprise me if I broke it with in the week of owning one."

The marshmallow bit had him trying to stifle a laugh. It was just extremely random.

"We need to get you a Nokia. It's an old phone that's pretty much indestructible and it's not a smart phone. Er- you know. Just lets you text and make calls and that's pretty much it." Quickly adding the last bit since Draco seemed to still be drinking some of his parent's hippie juice.

The waiter came over and looked between them. "Good evening. What can I get you tonight?"

Jake blinked, then looked down at his menu and laughed. "Could you give us a few minutes? I kind of forgot to even look."

"A few minutes would be good..." Draco responded as well, as he never even looked.

"You're bound and determined that I need to use one." He remarked after he finally figured out what to order. That way he didn't forget to look again.

"Easier to get a hold of you mate! No way to, right now. Besides, how are we going to keep in contact after you vanish or bugger off to America? If you don't do cell phones, I imagine you don't have a computer." He pointed the whole thing out with raised brows. It'd only taken a quick peek to figure out spaghetti and meatballs would be the way to go for him.

"Alright, alright... you win this round," Draco replied and held his hands up in defeat. He hadn't mentioned on going to America, but he guessed Jake must have quickly put the two together that it was a possible. He had found a chicken dish with pasta that seemed interesting.
