"I didn't think it would be so much stuff..." Draco replied as he gratefully dropped the bags at Jake's place. It made a lot of sense to leave it here then having to carry it back and forth. Having the gear now had him more excited about the trip.
He then collapsed on the couch. Draco realized then that this was the first time they were actually alone. Now they could talk a little more freely and be more open then they had been. He wasn't sure what to say at this point.
"Wait until you see the van all packed up! It's going to be a tight squeeze with five but we'll manage." Jake flopped down beside Draco after letting Lucky out to run around, who came up excitedly to Draco and looked excited for pettings.
This certainly was going to be an interesting trip. Draco smiled and reached down to pet Lucky. The dog was so eager for pettings. "I think you have a bit of competition here," Draco teased.
"Ouch, should I be insulted?" Then, licking his lips, Jake decided to go for it. He shifted his weight, reaching out to touch Draco's face, and peered into his eyes. "Or.. do I just need to be more forward, hmm?" But he didn't just lean in for the kiss, making sure it was okay first because he knew it could startle Draco.
Draco gave a sly smile--only as he turned to face Jake, he found himself locked in his gaze. Anything he had in mind left quickly as he struggled with his own emotions. Draco found that he easily lost himself in those eyes and his smile. He didn't stop Jake as he leaned in for the kiss not minding how forward Jake was. "I think I like you being more forward." He replied in a soft voice.
"Oh yeah?" Just a whisper before he leaned in closer, enough to brush his lips against Draco's. "...I wouldn't mind being a little more forward for you." His thumb stroked over a high cheekbone, then he kissed Draco firmly, much more of a proper kiss than the ones where they might have been caught.
Draco gave a firm kiss in return supporting Jake's response more. He ran a hand through Jake's hair and used his other hand to pull him closer. His eyes never left Jake's gaze as he studied the young man before him.
The brief kisses they had shared before weren't enough, but they also didn't want to get caught and Draco had been hesitant then. Now that they were alone it was different. It had been too long since he had received any type of affection. He wanted more.
When Jake broke the kiss, he licked his lips, leaving only mere inches between their eyes. His voice was soft, breathing picked up just slightly, when he asked quietly, "will you stay here today?" His fingers drifted down Draco's chest, trying to make no small guess about exactly what he meant by his words. "...please."
There was a pause before Draco nodded as he tried to regain a hold of his emotions. He knew what Jake was requesting and reached up to kiss him one more. "I'll stay with you," he breathed in a soft voice.
That smile again. That warm, brilliant smile as he drew back, taking Draco's hands. He pulled them around him, and leaned in to murmur against his ear, "I'm going to so make it worth your while." A promise in his voice, low, before he pulled Draco close.
Later, in his bedroom with the blinds shut and curtains over that to make it dark as possible, Jake woke up slowly. A smile stayed on his lips when he realized Draco was still there, felt like asleep beside him. Quick trip to the loo, glass of water, and he'd slip back into bed. So he got out, reaching down in the dark for his pants. Squinting, he felt around carefully until he thought he had his pants. Grabbing them, flipping them around for the waist, he realized they weren't his and went to drop them when his fingers felt something odd.
His brow went up and he paused. Draco's. But... It felt like something long and hard, longer than - he wasn't even sure. Too thin to be a knife. Draco didn't smoke... What on earth? He licked his lips, then knowing it wasn't entirely right to do, he tugged it out.
Staring at it in his hands, trying to figure it out in the darkness, he felt along the length of it. ...A stick? But too smooth, too carved. What...?
He nearly dropped it when he realized what he thought it was. Quickly he pushed it back to where he found it, puttin down the pants carefully, and went for the bathroom. No way. Couldn't be.
Despite at first it being a bit awkward for Draco, he was glad he had stayed with Jake. He needed it and for the first time in a long time was able to forget everything and simply enjoy his time with Jake.
He only woke up when he realized a body was missing from bed and looked to see where Jake had gone. The light on in the bathroom told him where he was. He used the time to climb out of bed and grab his clothes finding it too cold now.
"Everything okay?" Draco questioned only after he realized it was a while. He didn't know that Jake had mistakenly found his wand.
Jake, leaning still nude with his hands braced on the sink, jumped at the sudden voice in the silence. He had no idea what to do with what he'd found. Why did Draco have a wand?? Was it even a wand!? How did he bring it up without sounding like a snoop!? And right after they had done all 'that'! Not like they'd gone all the way, a little early for that, for Jake, but... enough. They'd definitely done enough.
He rubbed a hand over his face and steadied himself before he called back. "Sorry, hope I didn't wake you. Wanted a glass of water and to use the loo. Just a min." Oh good and now it looked like he pissed with the door open. He sighed and to make good on his original intent, his aching bladder, and his words, he quickly did use the loo and washed his hands, and more of himself, before he got a wash cloth and wet it down. He also filled up the glass he kept by the sink and drained half of it before coming back, offering both cloth and glass over with a small, not quite easy smile mostly unseen with the light behind him.
"Thanks," Draco replied as he took the glass and cloth. He tried to study him closer, but it was hard with the lights being off. He knew something was bothering Jake judging by his tone of voice and the way he was acting. Frowning a bit, he went and placed the cup down nightstand and turned on the lights.
"Mind telling me what's really wrong?" he casually questioned and sat on the bed looking up at Jake not caring if he was dressed or not."I was told I can be pretty intuitive so it's no good hiding things from me. It's a trait I got from my mother."
Oh bloody hell. Jake slid a hand back through his hair, knowing even more so this would be really awkward without even his skivvies on, but he moved to sit down next to Draco and tried to think how to explain.
"...nothing to do with what we just did, by the way," he started out, trying to ease any concern of that. His mouth worked wet, his swallow audible in the quiet room, before he leaned forward with his knees on his elbows. "...when I got up to go to the loo, I was trying to find my trousers in the dark. I grabbed a pair when I found them but there was... something in them."
He realized how awkward having this conversation was for the both of them. Him being partially dressed and Jake not dressed at all. Yet, the first part of Jake's comment did ease some tension... He had to admit he was a little concerned if it had been about what they did. But the part about finding his trousers caused Draco to run a hand over his face. What way to find out....
"What did you think you found?" Draco questioned. He had to ask before he could decide on finally explaining everything. For all he knew Jake could have thought it was something else.
Jake scratched his jaw, fidgetting slightly, because he knew how stupid it sounded to say out loud if he was wrong. "I mean-" deep breath, "I only felt it in the dark, but it felt- like-" This might have been the most awkward conversation of his life, right after 'I'm gay' and his parents.
"A wand. ...Like, a spell, wizards casting with it wand." Not even going to look up because bloody hell. That even sounded stupid to say out loud.
Draco gave a barely audible sigh as he ran a hand over his forehead. "Go get dressed and I got some things to explain. Things that you won't be able to tell anyone else to after this. It'll explain a lot of stuff that you were probably only guessing at."
He shouldn't get into too much trouble for this... Right? Jake did accidentally discover his big secret.
Jake very slowly looked over to Draco, then decided since this sounded pretty important, getting dressed would be a good idea anyway. He grabbed his jeans, farther from the bed, and his knickers, tugging them both on and offering Draco his shirt even as he snagged his own. As he pulled it over his head, he sat down, then looked with confused curiosity to the other.
Draco grabbed his shirt an shrugged it on. At the same time he pulled out his wand that Jake had found earlier.
"What you thought it was is correct. You also discovered my secret that I had been trying to hide since the day we met. I'm a wizard just like my father and my mother a witch." Draco quietly explained as he carefully watched Jake's reaction to his story.
"We keep this a secret to protect ourselves. We almost died out from all witch hunts in the past. A lot has been done so that we could still use our magic and still be safe. I'm breaking the law now by telling you that this even exists."
Well, Draco would at least get a fantastic expression to go with his law-breaking, because Jake was just staring at him with parted lips, wide eyes, and complete disbelief written across his face. Jake tried to say something, anything to that, but he couldn't, and his lips worked silently before he stood up, a hand coming up to say he needed a second.
He stepped a few feet away, looking away from Draco, and when he finally found his speech again, he looked to him and finally said what he needed to do, first. "Prove it. Prove- Prove any of what you just said is true."
He gave a small frown, knowing it was to be expected. Although, he was a little surprised to see this reaction from Jake. Jake had been so accepting of everything else. Then Draco supposed Jake didn't want to be lied to again on something he desperately wanted to believe in.
Upon Jake's requested he summoned a patronus charm. He was so glad that he wasn't underage now then he would have been in major trouble. A silver white fox appeared in front of Draco and then it walked toward Jake. He looked up at Jake, trying to see how he would react.
Jake actually felt his knees shake when it was real. There was no way, no possible way Draco could have faked this. With a shaking hand, he reached down, not even sure if he could, or should, touch it, but his mind was so absolutely blown away. This was magic. Draco was magic- his family was magic. All that weird stuff...
"All of it," Jake whispered. "It was all trying to hide what you guys are."
The fox sniffed at Jake, but his hand would have went through it. Draco nodded in answer to Jake's statement.
"I wanted to tell you everything. It was so hard hiding who I really was and why I didn't exactly fit in your world...But my family is already in enough trouble. I couldn't simply afford to just tell you."
He explained softly. His voice quivered slightly from a mixture of fear and excitement.
His knees just gave out and he slowly fell to them in front of the fox, unable to take his eyes off of it yet. It felt like a lifetime of childhood wishes coming true all at once in some weird way that left him shaking, kneeling on his apartment floor. Excitement, confusion, shock.
His family really was in trouble. Trouble with who? With what? What else didn't he know about!? Wait-
His eyes snapped up and he looked to Draco with shocked concern. "...Are- but you told me. What does that mean for you?"
"I don't know. You found out by accident. I think as long as you don't tell anyone else or act like you know about this to people that know me...we should be okay. This is all new for me. I never had friends that didn't have magical abilities."
Draco paused here to move to help Jake. He knew that Jake was overwhelmed by the whole explanation. Only this was just barely the beginning.
"The next bit I'm about to explain is going to be more difficult for me to explain. It'll explain why I'm here with my relatives."
Quietly, Draco explained about his family's beliefs and prejudices...what he had been like at school...and later the Death Eaters and about the Dark Lord. He would stop when ever Jake had questions or needed to digest the information.
