"I didn't think so," Draco replied, although he knew that quite a few of his people might be gullible enough to believe what was portrayed.

"Those phones can do quite alot of stuff. I can see why you guys rely on them so much."

"Good. Means you're onto the conspiracy." Jake wiggled his fingers before he laughed, tucking his hands back into his pocket. "Phones are great. Imagine if like... even fifty, one hundred years ago we went back and told them that in your pocket, you could hold everything ever put to record in human history, learn anything instantly, and record anything? They would think we were witches or demons or something. Yet there it is, right there. The internet. Probably the most important thing humans have ever developed. You know, next to... fire."

"You're a bad influence," Draco teased. He wore an amused expression at the witch comparison. Jake was unfortantly very far off from it. But still to have all that information and tools on that one devise was impressive.

Hey, a hundred years ago, they probably would have called him a witch for saying these sorts of things - even if the Muggles then were just as wrong!

"How am I a bad influence??" Jake tried to look shocked and innocent but a grin was threatening on the edges of his lips. "I've done nothing." He brought his chin up, looking proud, but it dissolved a moment later. "Okay, but I'm fine with being a bad influence. Perfectly fine."

"Not very convincing," Draco teased as he raised an eyebrow.

"Besides, I'm failing by not getting you into trouble. I used to cause a lot of trouble when I was at school. The goons you met could tell all sorts of stories of what I had them do."

Jake wasn't entirely certain that he thought that spoke highly of Draco... the fact those goons had listened to him at one point. But, he knew better. Don't judge. Draco was working on changing.

"Should I be worried about the camping trip, then?" Jake teased right back. "After all, you'll have your chance if we play truth or dare." Like they were even younger than they were instead of just about to go out to University.

It wasn't a great impression to have, but it was a part of Draco. It was something that most people who knew Draco associated with. Jake got to see the side of Draco that people never got to see, aside from his family.

There were times that Draco struggled with it. He still felt that he was soft and weak by showing what he was truly like and didn't like feeling so vulnerable.

"You'll just have to wait and see," Draco replied with a mischievous grin.

"So cruel," Jake pouted, but it dissolved away into his normal easy smile. He just couldn't hold sad or mean for very long. His personality just wasn't that kind. "I should be terrified, until I know otherwise." He nodded, as if this was confirmed and certain, before he chuckled.

That was the part of their strange deal. He was taking Draco as Draco was now, not judging him as much as he could by the past. Understanding the past had to happen, sometimes, but that was kept mostly as minimal as possible.

"As you should be," Draco replied with a smug grin. The challenge was learning the limits Jake had. He knew the limits on his old gang and what their weaknesses were. This was all knew territory. He had a feeling with Jake's easy going personality it would be a challenge.

"What else should I know about your group? Is there anything I should watch out for?" What concerned Draco the most was explaining his past. He doubted they woukd be as accepting.

"I quiver with fear," Jake quoted, then paused as he realized Draco wouldn't get it, then shrugged because it made sense anyway. Hmm... He thought about his friends, hands coming up to lace behind his head. "Once they figure out about us, you'll get teased about hanging out with the likes of me. Don't get upset; they're only playing. Mostly just be yourself. You're a good guy. They're going to be happy to hang out with you. Besides, they want to meet you more... I keep talking about you. Good things. Nothing about your family, either, promise."

The quote was totally lost on Draco, but he still smiled since Jake was still going along with it. He did relax knowing that the rest of the group simply wanted to get to know him and that Jake was true to his word.

"Thankyou," Draco replied..."Although someday they will want to know more."

The teasing didn't bother him. It just meant they were okay with everything. His group had never been like that. And it was nice to be held in a positive view instead of the typical negative one.

"They might, but honestly if you tell them something's off limits, they'll be curious as hell but they won't push. I'll be there to back you up." He gave a small smile, then pointed. "See that lit up sign up ahead? That's the camping store. By the time we're done breakfast, I bet they'll be open."

Then he stopped, going for a door. "And breakfast is here."

"Alright, I'll keep that in mind. I'll explain what I think they'll be comfortable with if I can. With you there it'll be easier," Draco replied and gave a nod in understanding. At least the two places weren't too far from each other.

He gave a smile and stepped inside. The subtle gestures weren't as awkward as they had started out to be.

Jake thought about it, then looked to Draco with a raised brow as they waited to be seated. "Give me a sign. Like, a hand gesture. Something I'll know what it means. Subtle. If you give me that gesture while we're camping, I'll know to step in and get the subject changed." He made a little hand motion of his own, indicating Draco should make up something he could remember.

Draco thought about it for a few minutes. He then made a v shape sign and held it horizontal. "Will that work?" Draco questioned. He knew traditionally it meant to be a victory symbol held vertically.

Jake thought about it, then gave a quick nod. "Works for me. You give me that sign and I'll know it means 'save me'. Just make sure to catch my eye." He flashed a smile as a waiter came forward and got them seated. Jake didn't even bother to open the menu; he was super hungry after work and that talk of a fry up had him keen for it.

"Thanks," Draco he said and placed an order for the fry up. At the first mention of it from this morning he wanted one and after the surprise run he was hungry. There weren't going to be any left overs.

Jake pulled out his phone and put it flat, peering up at Draco. "We can make a quick list here of what you'll need. It's not much, thankfully. We can help with the rest. But a nap sack, your own utensils... do you have a decent pair of shoes or boots for a hike?" He unlocked his phone so he could type up a list.

"I have nap sack I can use, but as far as clothing goes....No. Everything's all formal or too nice." Draco admitted with a slight blush. He didn't want to borrow utensils from the Lupins and everything they used at home was too nice. So basically, he only had one thing out of the list.

"Maybe we should look into a decent pair, then? Something you can wear outside of hiking... even a decent pair of trainers would work." He didnt sound too worried about it. "There's this nice set of utensils you can pick up that slide together so they take up space. Very nice." He was rapidly taking notes down on his phone.

"Backpack?"

"I have a backpack." Draco replied. It should be able to carry everything. "Trainers?"

He wasn't so sure about that. Those were a downgrade to what he normally wore. He couldn't help make a face at the mention of the shoes. Jake was going to have to get used to dealing with his exspenive taste -- especially in clothing.

There were expensive trainers! If he needed that... Draco didn't have a lot in the way of Muggle money though. Jake raised a brow at Draco's expression, confused. "What's wrong with a good pair of trainers? Be better to run in than those." Giving a little gesture under the table towards Draco's current shoes.

"Alright, I will hold your word on it," Draco replied. This was just hiking...No need to ruin good shoes.

He was glad that he had his own account and didnt have to go through his parents to get more money. Granted alot of times all he had to do was ask and they got him what he needed. But he didnt need his parents to know what he was doing here and who he was spending his money on. Eventually they would know, but not now. He was going to have to talk to Remus later about having to withdrawl some money for the London trip.

"What else do I need?"

"We're going to make a trip to the grocer right before we leave to pick up the basics. Bottles of water, toilet tissue, food, matches, the like. Umm do you have a proper rain slicker? Boots? We haven't had much rain but it's always a worry. Make sure you bring some easy things. Books are always a good option. Lucy usually brings her drawing pad and charcoal. That sort of thing. Oh!" His eyes lit up. "Do you like fishing? Or even fish in general?"

He gave a nod in question to rain jacket. The fishing held his interest. "I've never fished before. I would like to try it out. As for eating fish I don't mind it." Draco replied.

He was beginning to find that Jake did a lot of sports and out door activities. All of which, he never did. He would have to bring his books with him as well.
