"Sorry to hear it," Jake said with that sort of tone that suggested he meant it. He gave a bit of a shrug before he looked back, giving a little nudge on the lease to get his dog's attention. "Don't want to keep you. If you're the type who likes to have some fun though, there's not too much to do around here, but we're having a party tonight. Why don't you come over? Welcome you to the neighborhood, even if it's only temporary."

Dark eyes glinted as he laughed. "Unless you'd rather stick with the family."
