Jake, from the look of it, seemed to be glad of the distraction as well. He nodded when they offered more cheese, then dug eagerly into one of the large meatballs centered in the heart of his plate. He could act like a gentleman when in Draco's presence, but it wasn't until he glanced up from his food and watched the other eat for a few seconds that he began to realize the vast difference that really lay between them.

Draco ate with the perfection of someone raised by a lot of money. He caught himself looking for several seconds before his gaze dropped again, his thoughts going faster than what he knew what to do with. Maybe the whole idea of befriending Draco was a terrible idea, but he didn't care. He liked the other and if Draco wanted to make it work? Well, he'd give it a go.
